Our tiny bundles of scrummyness grow so quickly that there is hardly time for them to wear all of the precious items of clothing you excitedly bought before they arrived, clothing that was gifted when your new baby arrived or treasured pieces that you have made especially for their first new adventures in the world.

How do you start selecting which ones will look best on your Ooonicorn?

We get asked this question time and time again so we thought we would try and answer some of your questions in this guide to hopefully help the decision making a little easier.

Our beautiful Ooonicorn sits approximately 13-14 inches high, and is made with a total of 22 pieces. We need a minimum of 8-10 sleepsuits aged 0-3 months or larger and ideally 2 of your sleepsuits need to be at least 3-6 months (we will explain why in a moment). Don’t worry though, we can also use smaller sized sleepsuits as we know that often those precious first wardrobes are usually teeny tiny .. all we ask is that for each 0-3 month sleepsuit you substitute please send two New Baby / Tiny baby sleepsuits instead (for eg, if all of your clothing is Newborn size we would need approximately 20 items).

Choosing the right clothing is a matter of personal choice and your Ooonicorn will live and love in your house forever so the advice we always like to give is that you ask yourself which items of clothing have the most stories? The stories that you would like to treasure and retell your family forever. Do not worry so much about colours and if they compliment each other .. the most precious thing about a Ooonicorn is that it is the memories that bind them not matching bodies and head.

Plain or patterned clothing is absolutely perfect for your Ooonicorn, T-shirts, baby vests, Pjs, or leggings .. anything made from jersey material. However if you have items that contain logos / motifs or your clothing is made from cotton non-stretch fabric (i.e. a shirt) please see the breakdown below to help you with your selection.

Hopefully this guide will help you choose which memories your Ooonicorn will wear .. do not forget to enjoy the special process of picking them out, as this too is part of an Ooo Bears magic. If of course you simply cannot decide please just get in touch and we will be more than happy to talk you through the process or take a look at the items you have and give you our expert advice and help.

The great thing about your Ooonicorn is that she can be made from a mixture of jersey and cotton fabric so most items can be used anywhere.

Body : Along with the mane, this is the largest section of the pattern so is were we need your two 3-6 month sleepsuits. If you only have smaller clothing then the pattern will have to be cut across a seam. We always use the back of your sleepsuits for this area, so only patterned fabric can be used here.

Mane : This is another large area so larger sleepsuits are welcome although at a squeeze we can use 0-3 months.   Again we always use the back of your sleepsuits for this area so only pattered fabric can be use.

Tail : This is quite a large area and although pattered fabrics work the best, we can incorporate a motif or writing that are usually found on vests or sleepsuits that are full fronts (no poppers down the middle) or sleepsuits with the poppers / zips that curve from one side of the neck down to the opposite leg in an arc.  Please bear in mind the shape of the tail is very curved so although we can incorporate a motif it will not encompass the whole of it if it is too large.

Sides of the head : Here we find pattered fabrics work best but we can incorporate a small motif or writing on vests or sleepsuits that are full fronts (no poppers down the middle) or sleepsuits with the poppers / zips that curve from one side of the neck down to the opposite leg in an arc.

Center Head :  This is a very odd shape and we always use the back of your sleepsuits for this area, so only patterned or plain fabric can be used here.

Nose / Snout: This is actually made up of 3 pieces but we use the same fabric for all of them.  Patterned fabric only for this section.

Horn : This is tiny so only pattered fabric here.

Ears : Although these are tiny we can sometimes incorporate a tiny logo.

Stomach / inside legs :  Although you can see these areas they are not highly visible so patterned fabrics work best.

Hoof : These are thin strips at the bottom of the legs so pattered or plain fabrics are perfect for here.

Foot pads: The Ooonicorn stands on these so although you can see them, pattered or plain fabric works best.
